GLIMPSES OF ETERNITY FUTURE

God opened the windows of heaven and allowed the prophet Isaiah to see the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

Isa 6:1-8
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.(KJV)

This was a revealed glimpse given to Isaiah of the Lord of Lords and King of Kings Jesus Christ AS HE IS now since His final ascension into heaven seated upon His throne, highly exalted.

Isaiah was allowed to see what was to him Eternity Future. Who he saw was the Lord Jesus Christ sitting on His throne, high and lifted up, His train filling the temple, fully God and fully man!

The prophet Daniel was also given visions in the night of this Holy place as recorded in Daniel 7:13-14.

Dan 7:13-14
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.(KJV)

Dan 8:15-17
15 And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.
16 And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.
17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.(KJV)

Dan 10:5-7
5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.(KJV)

In what was to him ETERNIY FUTURE, the prophet Ezekiel also was given a vision of the Throne of the Christ:

Ezek 1:26-28
26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
27 And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.(KJV)

The Apostle John received similar revelations of the Lord of Lords and King of Kings AS HE IS:

Rev 1:9-19
9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;
(KJV)

A quote from Seiss’ Commentary on the Apocalypse PP14 on ” The Son of Man” is fitting.

The “one like unto the Son of man” (), is Christ himself. He is described in
the same way in the Psalms, in the visions of Daniel, and in his own
discourses concerning himself. It is a form of speech meant to set forth the essential importance and prominence of the human element of the Saviour’s character; for it is in his human nature that his redemption work is conducted, and his victories achieved. It is as the Son of man that he came, lived, suffered and died. It was as the Son of man that he rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will come again, judge the world, and set up his glorious everlasting rule. But he is not to be conceived of as nothing but a man. He is “one like unto the Son of man.” This word like sets us upon the scent of something higher than humanity, though conditioned as humanity, and having everything in common with it. Thus, we read of him as “made in the likeness of men,”– “in all respects made like unto his brethren.”

Throughout the scriptures can be found many other accounts which tell of the visions that were given of Jesus Christ AS HE IS after His final Ascension into heaven, which occurred 40 days after His resurrection from the dead.

These men who received revelations and visions were permitted to glimpse into Eternity Future and see the form of the Lord as He would appear forever upon His Throne. These revelations served to instill in them and others, who would hear, or read their words, a faith, hope and love which at times is beyond description. All of these men were never the same as their committment increased once they clearly saw and understood these visions.

Is Jesus Christ fully God?

The epistle of Hebrews is one of “much more”, “better than”, “greater than”. In all things the epistle of Hebrews shows that Jesus was and is greater than all the prophets, angels and is even greater than Moses. It also speaks of the New Covenant with its better promises than that of Abraham.

Chapter one deals with the Divine Nature of Jesus Christ and begins with the word GOD! This should immediately capture the reader’s attention, in that it is likened to Genesis which begins with, “In the beginning, GOD!” or “GOD in the beginning”. No other epistle begins in this manner, and as such Hebrews should get our focused attention because this epistle declares that God is speaking to us in His dear Son.

God makes it known that in these last days He is speaking to us through His dear Son. God speaks to us not through the prophets or by way of angels, but in His dear Son.

His Son is greater than all the prophets or angels who did in the Old Testament speak at various times and places for God. Under the Old Covenant the prophets and angels were limited to communicate to man’s intellect. However, now under the New Covenant Jesus speaks by way of Holy Spirit, directly into the spirit or heart of His people!

His Son is the brightness of His (the Father’s) glory and the express image of His nature. His only begotten Son is the exact imprint of the Father, speaking into the heart or spirit of believers. The resurrected, glorified, Christ is imparting the very life of God from the Throne room of heaven itself into the spirit of believers. 4

The Son of God upholds all things by the word of His power which has been bestowed upon Him by the Father. He has been appointed heir of all things being made so much better than the angels. He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they have.

This Son of God, in whom God is speaking to us today, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down or took His dignified and rightful place at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Because He loved righteousness and hated iniquity, God anointed Him with the oil of joy above His fellows. As we shall see later on in this study, this anointing of Joy or Holy Spirit occurred sometime after the resurrection, between the Ascension from the Mount of Olives, and the day of Pentecost.

Therefore today if we do not harden our hearts, the Son of God lives in our heart to impart very heaven to us from His throne. He reveals Himself to us, ever perfecting us,
bringing us into the Father’s presence, in order that we may one with Him and with the Father thereby becoming over-comers in this world.

This is just a small portion of what Hebrews Chapter one reveals to those who are seeking and hungering after Truth.

ETERNITY PAST

Before the days of His Flesh, in what we shall call Eternity Past, was it possible that the Son of God was with the Father in the form of spirit? If so did the Son share the same attributes as the Highest God? Let’s look at some scripture that seem to indicate this pre-existence was possible.

John 17:5 (AMP)
5 And now, Father, glorify Me along with Yourself and restore Me to such majesty and honor in Your presence as I had with You before the world existed.
Philippians 2:6-8 (AMP)
6 Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [[a]possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not [b]think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped [c]or retained,
7 But stripped Himself [of all privileges and [d]rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.
8 And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!

These scriptures seem to indicate that according to the plan of salvation, the appointed time came for the Son of God to willfully limit Himself of His Glory and His divine attributes and willfully laid aside all those attributes that made Him equal with God.

In other words He, Jesus Christ chose not to use His Godly powers while in the flesh, and in doing so, He made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant and was found in fashion as a man. Is it possible the Son of Almighty God, was willing to conceal His glory and leave His divine attributes behind (heaven) in order to be born a perfect human sacrifice for the sins of all mankind?

The way I see it, in this seemingly deliberate and willful act of obedience to the Father, The Son of God stepped from the limitlessness and security of eternity into the confines of the time and space of this fallen world. Accordingly He was willing to humble and subject himself to the cruel and savage treatment He received during the days of His flesh in order to obtain the gift of salvation for mankind.

In obedience to the Fathers Will, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit Then after nine months in His mother’s womb, He was born a helpless infant, totally dependent upon His mother Mary and stepfather Joseph. He grew up as other children along with His brothers and sisters under the authority of His earthly parents in Nazareth.

The Lord Jesus willfully emptied himself to become man, so that He could save us from an eternity in Hell, and freely give all who will confess Him as Lord eternal life.

Oh! What Faith! Oh! What Love! Oh! What Hope! Jesus the Son of God became the Son of Man to dwell among us in the flesh, and to declare to us the Father God. This began the days of His flesh where He was fully human.

Fully Man with Sinless Blood

John 1:1-5 (KJV)

But how is it that the Son of God, Who is the Word made flesh, was born into this world without sin?

The answer to this question may be found in the epistle to the Hebrews.

Heb 2:14 (KJV)

This verse is telling us that the children are partakers of flesh and blood. The word partakers is from the Greek word koinoneo which means to share in common, to be a partaker of or in anything in common with others.

It is interesting that another Greek word is used to describe what part the Son of Man took. The verse does not say that He partook, koinoneo of the same, but that He took part metecho of the same.

The Lord Jesus was born into this world with pure sinless blood, which He inherited, not from fallen Adam but from His Heavenly Father. Jesus is the promised seed of Abraham and He is the only man born of a woman without the original sin of Adam. The flesh He took part of, was from the line of David through His mother Mary. And so He was born fully human in order to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God.
