Treasure in Earthen Vessels

What does this mean to those who are seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness?

In Twenty First Century language it means that we (earthen vessel) are not “all that!” You mean we are not the Best? True the Treasure is excellent, but the Earthen Vessel is lacking too much to be considered being the greatest.

The emphasis here is on the treasure within the earthen vessel and not the vessel itself.
The vessel is made of clay which is common and fragile but the treasure is precious or highly valued. Unlike the earthen vessel spoken of here which is temporal, the treasure within is eternal.
The way I see it this treasure consists of an invisible substance that originates from the heavenly Father, then deposited into a chosen earthen vessel which is inferior to the treasure it holds.

But what is this treasure which is referred to here?

Is it Christ in you the hope of glory?

Is it the gospel of the kingdom?

Is this treasure the spiritual empowerment of the gift of the Holy Spirit?

I believe the answer is yes to all of the above!

However I also suggest this treasure is actually the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. The focus here is on the treasure which is given in the face of Jesus Christ.

Once again it is evident that the center of attention of the Father is on His Son Jesus the Messiah. Therefore knowing and having a vital personal relationship with the living Christ is imperative if Christians are to be able to begin to grasp what it means to be in and do the Fathers will in their lives.

This brings us to the place where we must exalt the Lord Jesus to the position and stature that He not only achieved by His selfless sacrifice upon the cross, but also where the Father has positioned Him as Head of the Body of Christ. There is a purpose to Christ being the head and this is that Christ by way of the Holy Spirit may personally manage our lives both individually and collectively.

God is the Father, Jesus is the Son, and the Holy Spirit connects us to one another in in a unity of purpose so we may under the supervision of Christ be partakers in the process of building the kingdom of God.

How is this task to be accomplished? The mission is to be achieved by the foolishness of preaching the good news of the Kingdom of God to every creature.

Let’s get back to the treasure. One of the parables Jesus of Nazareth told about the kingdom is that it was like a field that had a hidden treasure.

Matthew 13:44 (KJV)
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

Most everyone have heard of the Gold Rush of 1849 where many sold everything they owned in order to be able to stake a claim and discover their wealth. Unfortunately more people died trying to find gold than became wealthy.

The good news is that if do what Christ told us which is to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, all things will be given to you. In Christ’s promise there is no losing proposition for an individual to search for God’s kingdom and His manner of living within that realm.

The gospel of the Kingdom of God is better than precious Gold just waiting to be discovered and claimed by any and all who will come to Christ and make Him Lord.

The following verse tells us that if our gospel or good news of the kingdom is hid then it is hid to them that are lost.

This begs the question, who are the lost?

How can we know if an individual is lost or not?

The only way to find out is to allow the treasure in the earthen vessel to shine by sharing the good news of the knowledge of the glory of God In the face of Jesus Christ.
In the Gold Rush of 1849 prospectors worked hard digging in order to discover a mother lode of Gold.

It is the same way regarding those who have been chosen to be in the kingdom of God but instead of digging we are to speak the gospel hoping to receive a favorable response in those that hear us.

II Corinthians 4:3-9 (KJV)

3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.

6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Christ Jesus the Mediator between God and Man

Jesus Christ (Messiah) is the mediator between God and man.

1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV)
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Using today’s computer age terminology, one could say that Christ is the “interface” between God and Man. The term interface is a point where two systems, subjects, organizations, etc., meet and interact. Therefore without the mediator, or interface, an individual may not be connected to the Father.

This is why Jesus said:

John 14:6 (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus of Nazareth also warned to be sure to enter at the strait gate:

Matthew 7:13-15 (KJV)

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Jesus the Messiah is the strait gate and the way to the Father because He is the mediator between God and man.

Why did the Father make the Son to be everything needed in order for mankind to make their way back to the Father’s kingdom?

People need to have a definite point where they may be in touch with the True God. This is due to the fact that humans are limited to a five senses world. A finite being is limited to the five senses and needs something, or someone, that may be seen, heard, and touched, in order to enjoy a relationship.

The Father enacted His plan because He desired a relationship with His children in the same way that He intimately enjoyed with Adam and Eve in the garden. But because Sin had entered into the world this did sweet intimacy the Father desired did not come into fruition until the birth of His only begotten Son the Messiah.

Jesus of Nazareth was not just another man born into this world. Jesus came down from heaven leaving His Majesty behind to become fully man. He was sent by the Father with a specific purpose. This divine purpose was to show us the Father and to introduce the kingdom of God among men.

Christ was able to show us the Father and His kingdom because He always did the will of the Father. Christ during the days of His flesh was always showing what the Father would say and do in everyday life occurrences. Jesus was the perfect example of what the Father would do and say!

So then this divine “Interface” between God and man was displaying the will of the Father in His words and actions to those around who had eyes to see and ears to hear for not all He encountered accepted Him.

Christ not only was able to show us the Father but He was also showing the example of how a child of the Father should conduct themselves in the kingdom of God while alive on this earth.

So men and women who with their mouths say they love God but by their fruits prove that they love themselves more, have not yet recognized Jesus Christ for Who He actually is today!

Those who follow teachings and doctrines of devils or cunningly devised fables which marginalize Jesus Christ and have relegated Him to something the Father declares He is not, have missed the mark entirely.

Those who do not see and recognize Jesus of Nazareth for Who the Fathers Word declares Him to be, are walking in darkness because they refuse to come to the True Light of the World.

Jesus of Nazareth said:

“Many will say to me in that day, Lord! Lord! But they will not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 7:21-24 (KJV)

Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

“Narrow is the path and strait is the gate.”

Learning to See through the Eyes of God

The sun had not yet risen as I slowly awoke from a sound sleep. Walking to my chair in the living room I noticed it was 4:30AM. . As sat quietly in the dark my thoughts began to ascend to the Heavenly Father in Praise and Thanksgiving for all He is, and all He will be, and for all He has made obtainable to those who believe and trust in Him.

It was during this time of quiet meditation and offering the sacrifice of praise that a series of thoughts came to me in such a way that it altered my perspective on life.

Once again I realized that I was in the presence of the Father and He was taking me to school by imparting what I needed to know in order to give me a clearer understanding of how to live in His Kingdom during my life each day.

This gentle but firm instruction came by way of quiet peaceful thoughts as I began to hear the beginning of the Lord’s Prayer within my mind.

Our Father Who art in Heaven

Yes! I am your heavenly Father and I love you more than you realize.

Hallowed be thy name

I love when you stop to take the time to jump up into my lap and recognize me giving me honor as your Father.

Thy kingdom come
True My kingdom has come to earth through the birth, life, death, resurrection, and ascension of my Dear Son Jesus of Nazareth. “The Kingdom of God is at hand.”

Give us this day our daily bread.

Gently He spoke and said, Have I not supplied all of your needs?

Do not fret about tomorrow, or next week, or next month, or next year, for I am your endless and bountiful supply.

Did I not freely provide all that Israel needed during their forty years in the wilderness even giving them good health?

You need to learn how to see life through my eyes because my eyes see from everlasting to everlasting! My eyes see impossibilities as possibilities . I am not limited by time or space.

The natural eyes you were born with are limited in that they may only see what is before you as you live each day. However when you were born again from above I equipped you with a new and different set of eyes! I gave you eyes of faith so that you might see what I see, and accomplish what I have sent you to achieve. The good works which I ordained that you should walk in.

Your natural eyes are limited in that they may not see what will be tomorrow, or in the future, but my eyes see all things. Therefore desire to learn to see your life through the eyes of your heavenly Father, For this is where your treasure is and my Kingdom Life exists. I have translated you to the Kingdom of my dear Son where all things are possible and faith alone is your sight!

Proverbs 22:17-21

Politics and The Kingdom of God

The way I see it no man or woman born has ever or will ever possess the power, intelligence or wisdom to get America and the world out of the mess it is has been in since the beginning of time.

The Globalists or One World enthusiasts think their way is the only way to fix the problems that exist in the world today. This is why these governmental leaders are devoted to coming up with various ideas and programs that will never truly work. The major ingredient missing in their equation for success is the Creator of this Universe and His way of living.

Most people regardless of world view are saying they want a world order that will bring in the following major points for all the inhabitants of earth to enjoy:

World Peace and Safety
Conquer disease
Eliminate World Hunger
Remove Poverty

Psychologists have told us there are three basic needs inherent in all humans living throughout the globe. These are the need to belong, the need for significance, and the need for reasonable security. Whether world leaders are Liberal or Conservative, these seem to be the elusive goals to achieve in order to live in a harmonious, prosperous world.

Keeping these three human needs in mind the United Nations was set up in order to come up with a remedy for problems that face a globe with an ever growing population.
The differences are not these goals but the means in which they should be accomplished.

We who say we are Christians should line up with the only plan that will work to bring about the goals the world is striving for and this is the kingdom of God.

Political solutions will always come up short and fail! Therefore instead of joining in the fray of this political season, perhaps we should be telling our family and friends, neighbors and strangers, about God’s solution to the human dilemma in which we are all trapped.
All this fighting about Trump or Hillary is a big distraction for what our Father is expecting of us.

Colossians 3:1-4 (KJV)
3 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Winners never quit and quitters never win!

Winners never quit and quitters never win!

We who are called of God to be in His Kingdom are winners and as you know faithfulness and honesty is what the Lord loves. He does not expect us to be perfect or else He would have never chosen us when we were still dead in our trespasses and sin. All He asks for is honesty as He has no greater joy than to see that His children walk in truth.

Our Father loves it when we are truthful with ourselves and with Him. Isaiah 58:7 speaks of one of the things God corrects His people in regards to His fast, namely “hiding ourselves from our own flesh.” This is called hypocrisy!

Isaiah 58:7

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

What we all need more than anything else today is understanding and encouragement. Especially so as we arrive closer each day to His return.

The days are dark and we are surrounded by evil on all sides but we do shine as lights in a crooked and perverse nation. We shine because the light of Christ lives within this earthen vessel not because we are so HEAVY spiritually.

I believe it was Ezekiel or some other prophet that became so discouraged and tired of the fight that he hid in a cave. The Lord visited the prophet and encouraged him by saying that He had reserved a remnant of 7000 that had not bowed to Baal! The way I see these seven thousand had been chosen and they were faithful.

God’s remnant today are those He has chosen before the foundations of the world to represent Him and they will never bow the knee before anyone else but the Lord Jesus.

Today those who are truly children of God have been chosen to become Kingdom Citizens even while alive and citizens of this world.

Though the world around us is eroding into deeper darkness we stand as lights to those others He has also chosen to become citizens of His everlasting Kingdom.

We all stand as a Light House shining our lights deep into the darkness in order that others may be rescued as we were from a vain and empty life.

As we simply keep our eyes upon Christ we will be guided by His true light to become what He has called us to be in this world for Him.

Yes! Knowledge is wonderful but a deep true vital and intimate relationship with our Jesus Christ is priceless!

Focusing On Christ

Focus On Christ

Colossians 3:1-4 (KJV)

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

This passage of scripture speaks of focusing our attention on things which are above where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God.

The way I see it, this passage is emphasizing the follower of Christ’s daily need to be more mentally aware of heavenly things than of the earthly things. The earthly things we encounter in our everyday lives are what our heavenly Father desires we manage according to His instructions.

It is easy for even the most faithful believer to be distracted by the constant events of this world which have a power of sorts to drag us into a whirlpool of anxiety and frustration. This is precisely why we are admonished to keep our focus not only on Christ, but also upon heavenly things such as the Kingdom of God.

When we look out at this world we quickly recognize that the promised Kingdom of God has not yet be established on earth, nor will it be until the Lord returns to set up His Millennial Kingdom for one thousand years. Until that time comes we as followers of Christ will encounter many challenges and even persecutions for His name’s sake.

The persecutions Christ warned us would surely arrive into our lives in various degrees and intensities. Some of these challenges are more personal, while others are of a more general nature such as distant world events that may cause us deep concern. But Christ told us beforehand not to let our heart be troubled neither let it be afraid. How then is this to be accomplished? The answer to this question is to follow the instructions contained in scriptures such as this passage in Colossians.

Therefore when we focus on this world, or the things of this world, we will most certainly become anxious because this world’s cultures are for the most part of this world and not of the Kingdom of God.

Focusing our attention upon Christ and heavenly things is the remedy we must accept in order to be free from the devastating effects of the troubles of this present evil age.

If we will but heed the Lord’s instructions to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness we will then begin to see the Kingdom blessings of the age to come reach back into this present evil age and free us from the anxieties we are faced with in this life.

By doing this we are placing our faith which is complete trust in the promises of our Heavenly Father which will bring to us the more than abundant life Christ promised in John 10:10

Let us remind one another to keep looking up to Christ for our needs to be met and He will surely do His part.
